Leadership Training: Good Samaritan believes that every individual has the potential to be a leader. Our leadership training programs are strength-based and provide tools for individuals to become leaders in our community.

Promotoras (Peer Educators) Program: Promotoras train individuals to support immigrant families by linking them to needed resources. While their focus is on supporting families with children ages 0-5, they also reach a broad spectrum of San Francisco’s Latino immigrant community through outreach at resource fairs and by providing educational presentations on topics such as resources for immigrants, nutrition, early childhood development, and how to advocate for your family. Promotoras become eligible for this year-long training once they have graduated from the PIENSA Program, which is offered in the fall. If selected, they continue their training for one year, gaining skills in community organizing, outreach, community resources, public speaking and presentation skills. Parent Committee: The Parent Committee is composed of participants who attend Good Samaritan programs and whose purpose is to provide input on improving services while developing leadership skills. Parents learn how to conduct a meeting, how to make decisions and how to work in a team. The committee also coordinates and leads family activities such as cooking and nutrition classes and arts-and-crafts classes. For more information contact: mcastillo@goodsamfrc.org |
